Not even any icebergs to paddle around , what fun is that. We have small patches of water on the local rivers but the lake is still an icecube. I have my heat off all day first time since October. Greg

GREG, long time in replying, i have bought a 20ft long tarp from Canadian Tire so when that sun returns for real i will have a go at making a cover for the Triak . Triak ask over $700 they have sent me photos and i think some one some where must be making a fortune, if they can sell any at all.Right now i am making spars and BIGGER lee boards for the Klepper for when i get a Lateen sail which i want to try, it won,t be as handy as the PACIFIC ACTION sail owing to it,s size.

Hey Greg
I just added a Mapping Tab where you can enter GPS coords and a picure on a favorite kayak spot. Give it a try and we'll see if it works from your end.

GREG i am thinking of puting wheels or roller onto the rear kayak support as it is like a "T" behind the spare wheel, i couldn,t find a "proper" roof rack as the jeep tops are i think fibre glass so the front part of the rack is attached to the wind shield surround and the rear one is up from the 2 inch receiver, my son has the jeep in Thunder Bay at the moment, when he comes back i,ll take photo,s. The triaks keep the sail and "A" mast on the boat and with this weight on top, the hull tries to turn over when there,s no "wing"on, probably a minor thing when i get the hang of it. The Cabelas outfit have a cover 18 feet long and if i can push the sail back so it dosn,t protrude forward and some how sort out the rudder that might work, it,s intended for canoes and is 36 inches wide but wrapped and tied around it might be ok, it,s $80. Triak have one for $600 if their web site is correct as there are two prices. A few attemps at loading in the garage will show me the way.

Wild looking river, for sure, bit too wild for me!. Thanks for the drysuit tips and I believe I did check out the old town site and they didn't have my size will look them up and check again. Maybe they pot them away for the summer, and bring them back out on the shelf (website) in the winter.

On Okanagan lake we probably can paddle all year and I have seen some out there in January a couple years back paddling. Okanagan rarely freezes as far as I know, it used to freeze back 100years or so ago because people used to skate from Naramata across the lake to Summerland. It from my understanding was much colder back then.
Maybe with the proper gear like you say, drysuit better than a wetsuit for kayak? You leave your kayaks at the lake? The population must be quite low there I'd be afraid of someone walking off with mine if I did that here.

I wasn't a good skier till I got a job at a youth camp for 5 years and had to ski as a councilor so I got not too bad "advanced intermediate" they called me. That just means I can ski down the hill without falling. Last year I took my youngest son skiing haven't skiied for about 20 years before last year. I like Apex. They have more runs now.

Thanks Greg i will need one about 21 ft long so perhaps home made might be the way to go, but i will check the firms you suggest, as it looks like i will need a trailer for the triak and i think some protection might be best, then i have to pull it, that will be a new experience, if i can afford a trailer, they are quite pricy. I might try hard at putting it on the jeep roof rack.
